Chemistry Augmented Reality Experiment

Augmented reality in the space of education really excites me, as the ability to visualise complex concepts in a 3D space by literally bringing them to life, is the future of more interactive and engaging learning.

In this project, I explored the possibility of conducting dangerous experiments in AR, reactions of Group 1 metals with water. I remember being awe-struck watching my Chemistry teacher perform these experiments. Due to the violent nature of this experiment, we were not allowed to try it on our own. The possibility of conducting experiments in AR excites me as we learn and remember better by doing. Although, it can't be a replacement for real chemistry experiments, AR provides a great learning experience in conducting experiments that could be dangerous or where there could be a lack of proper access to resources.

The second part of the app, explores how covalent bonds form between 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom to form a water molecule. The possible use of AR in education, really excites me as it has the capacity to translate complex concepts into visually engaging and immersive experiences that enable the learner to better understand and remember these concepts .
